Survey of Salaries in the Russian Industry in 2009

This Report based on the results of cross-sectoral salary research at the Russian industrial enterprises has been prepared by Bimmacon Company in 2009.
The summary report includes the following data:
- Salary and bonus payment levels for more than 150 key positions and jobs at industrial enterprises divided into four groups, as follows:
- Senior Management – General Director, the Chief Engineer, Technical Director, Financial Director, etc.;
- Mid-level Management – heads of production and engineering departments, of workshops and divisions, head of Procurement Department, the Chief Process Engineer, the Chief Designer, head of Planning and Economic Department, as well as of Financial Department, etc.;
- Administrative staff and specialists – the design engineer, the process engineer, the quality assurance engineer, accountants, economists, the software engineer, the personnel officer, the sales manager, the procurement manager; etc.;
- Workers involved in the mainstream production processes, the auxiliary processes and the service operations – the electric/gas welder, the oxygen-cutting operator, the turner, the milling machine operator, the machine assembly mechanic, the machine setup man, the repairman, the driver, the engine operator, the equipment operator, the sorting operator, and other specialists servicing the needs of metallurgical, machine building, and instrument making industries, as well as food processing industry, the construction materials production, etc.
Additionally, the analysis of remuneration rate for different jobs and qualifications has been supported by data on skill categories and grades, including:
- The analysis of remuneration rate for different management levels.
- The analysis of remuneration increase for in 2009, with increase projections for the period of 2010–2011.
- The non-monetary incentives used (such as medical insurance, additional pension insurance, employee loans, sport clubs, kindergartens, extra leave days, etc.). Fixed compensation rates for cell phones, private cars, travel subsistence allowance.
- Staff turnover rate for different employee categories. The staff composition as per educational background.
- General analysis of the survey data on different employee incentive systems used by enterprises, as well as on the main trends and issues of staff policy. Different aspects pertaining to the attraction of young specialists have been analyzed. Also, survey data on different employee incentive systems used by enterprises, as well as on the main trends and issues of staff policy have been provided.
A federal-region breakdown of the jobs and positions survey data is also available.
The main advantages of this salary research project relate to the facts that the project targets specifically Russian industrial enterprises, and the majority of enterprises participating in the research were Russian enterprises. Up to date, the only available research results referred to data on foreign companies’ representative offices and branches, and on transnational corporations with significant foreign capital. Given the aforesaid, such data could not be used efficiently by the average Russian enterprise due to disparate operational conditions.
The Summary Report is based on data provided by enterprises participating in the research, as well as by regional recruiting agencies and web-sites.
